Automatic Geolocation: Always know where your sales are happening.
We know that sales isn't all about sitting at your desk. You need to get out there--meet people, make site visits, conduct presentations and demonstrations. When you go to visit a client or prospect, you will of course need to know how to get there. So that you don't have to go outside Pipeliner CRM, we've developed our Geolocation feature for both the mobile and desktop versions of Pipeliner CRM.
How Automatic Geolocation Works
Note: This feature is currently available by invitation. Please sign up here to take advantage of Pipeliner CRM’s new Geolocation feature. In the following steps, we will show you how to map a single record or multiple records on the map. But before we start, we'll explain the fields on which Geolocation is based.
Which fields does Geolocation use for its calculation?
The following fields are taken into account when trying to geolocate a contact or account on the map:
- ZIP Code
- Street Address
At least one field needs to be filled out.
How Geolocation synchronizing works
In order for a record to show on a map, the information provided within the Pipeliner desktop app needs to go through several steps:
- Contact or location data (city, country, zip code, state or street address) is entered.
- Automatic sync is performed, or Pipeliner is synced manually. At this stage the location data is stored on Pipeliner's secure server.
- On the Pipeliner secure server, the system analyses and geolocates your data.
- Pipeliner secure server stores the geolocated data in a separate database, and pushes it to your local desktop version of Pipeliner.
- Pipeliner is synced once again so that the geolocation data will appear on your map.
Important Note: There is a queueing mechanism applied to geolocation records. Once geolocation is activated, it can take up couple of hours (it's about 2500 records per day) for geolocation data to appear, depending on number of records being geolocated.
How to view a single record (a contact or account) on the map
In order to view a single record on the map, just click on the “Location” link within the compact view. You will then see a Google Maps view, with the pin showing the location on the map:
Note: Once the contact or account is localized, you can click on the “Pin” to see the contact or account detail and use standard Google Maps features.
How to view multiple records on the map
In order to view multiple records on the map, just alter the profile according to your preferences and hit “View on Map” button within the action buttons. Pipeliner always shows all visible records you have according to the profile selected. And here is the map view of the contacts within the selection of the Power Panel view: Note: Once the contacts or accounts are localized, you can click on the “Pin” to see the contact or account detail and use standard Google Maps features.
Are there any limits to this feature?
Due to the limits and requests on the server, we are currently displaying up to 100 records on the map at once. To display multiple records in the map feature, you should set your Pipeliner CRM Power Panel to display a maximum of 100 records. Below is an example using a few contacts from our company:
