Setting up product catalog in Pipeliner CRM

Your product catalog, pricing, and discounts can now be a part of your CRM—a massive time saver. Get fancy with applying discounts, taxes, or automatically calculating fields.

About the Pipeliner CRM Product Catalog

The Pipeliner CRM product catalog allows you to easily list all of the products and services related to the specific deal you are working with. You can also use it as a calculation of total implementation cost or the opportunity value.

What You Can Do As a Pipeliner CRM Admin

These settings apply to the entire company:

  • Create a custom list of products and services that match your business.
  • Assign products with your custom list of categories.
  • Assign products with your SKU (Stock Keeping Unit).
  • Create price lists and add products on the fly.

What You Can Do as Pipeliner CRM User

These are the options Pipeliner CRM users can choose:

  • Offer discounts.
  • Use your custom prices.
  • Update Opportunity Value—manually or automatically!
  • Filter deals per product list.
  • Run reports quickly for a full view, any time.
  • And much more handy features.

In the first series post, we will take a closer look at configuring the product catalog for your company.

How to Configure The Product Catalog (Admin)

The product catalog may include a list of products and services that you offer and/or sell. In order to create and maintain product catalog list you need the admin rights.

1: How to Create Product Categories

A Product Catalog consists of product categories to which products are assigned, along with the corresponding price lists.

The Product Category is a way to organize products and services that you sell.

In order to create your product categories, run Pipeliner CRM and follow these steps:

  1. Click on the “User” and select “Administration” from dropdown menu. Pipeliner CRM Access Admin
  2. Click on “Products & Prices."
  3. Click on “Product Categories."
  4. Click on the “Add Category” button. Pipeliner CRM Add Product Category
  5. Select Category Name.
  6. Configure the Parent Category. If you select None, a new Category will be created as a Parent. Pipeliner CRM Define Product Category
  7. Click on the “Save” button.

After configuring product categories, you can now create the products and services you sell.

2: How to Populate the Product Catalog with Products

Here you can create and manage your custom list of products and services related to your business and cluster them. Later, your sales team can relate a specific product or service to each sales opportunity and generate reports based on this information using Pipeliner CRM Management Reports.

A Product is defined as a type of product or service related to a sales opportunity.

In order to add products to your product catalog, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the “User” and select “Administration” from dropdown menu.
  2. Click on “Products & Prices."
  3. Click on “Opportunity Products” and click on the “Create” button. Pipeliner CRM Add New Product
  4. Configure your opportunity product according to your preferences and click on the “Save” button. Here you may insert the product name, unit, SKU number, select its category and select a Pipeline for which the product will be available.Product_Pipeline.png

After you populate your product catalog, you can create your price list.

3: How to Create a Product Price List

Pipeliner CRM enables you to create and manage price lists of products and services based on specific time periods.

A Price List is a list of product prices related to the specific time period.

In order to create a price list, please perform following steps:

  1. Click on the “User” and select “Administration” from dropdown menu.
  2. Click on “Products & Prices."
  3. Click on “Price Lists."

  5. Enter Start and End dates.
  6. Configure the prices valid for the specified period.

TIP: After you create the price list, your sales team can use either this price list or assign custom prices to the products.

How to Remove Products from Opportunity Form

Use Case: Your business does not require to manage product or services e.g. you are using Pipeliner CRM as a Key Account Management Software.

  1. Run Pipeliner CRM
  2. Open "Administration". Pipeliner CRM Access Administration
  3. Go to "Forms and Fields". Pipeliner CRM Open Fields and Forms
  4. Go to "Opportunities". Pipeliner CRM Access Custom Opportunity Forms
  5. Click "Edit" the opportunity form. Pipeliner CRM Customize Opportunity Form
  6. Scroll down to the "Products and Services" field. Pipeliner CRM Products and Services on Form
  7. Click on the "Edit" Icon and click "Remove field from the form". Pipeliner CRM Deactivate Product Catalog

This way you can completely deactivate the product catalog from the opportunity form. Additionally, do not forget to remove the element "Header" called Products and Services from the form as well.
