Using Target in Pipeliner CRM

What is Pipeliner Dynamic Target?

A dynamic target is a sales tool that enables you to easily measure and estimate your opportunity contribution to your sales goal.

Where can you find and use Dynamic Target?

Dynamic Target bases its calculations on opportunities. You can find it within the following areas of Pipeliner:

  • Pipeline - In the sales pipeline as a visual target, and via its target setting within "Options > Target".
  • Bubble Chart - In the bubble chart view as a moveable visual target and via its target setting within "Options > Target".
  • Archive - In the sales pipeline Archive as a visual target, and via its target setting within "Options > Target".
  • Reports - Only via its target settings within "Report Settings > Target".
  • Dashboards - Only via its target settings within "Dashboard Settings > Target".

How you can configure Dynamic Target?

In order to configure target settings you need to go into "Options" within that related feature. Within the target settings you can find following configuration options:

Target Goal - A target goal is a goal set for salesperson or sales team measured in revenue or units sold for a specific time. It's an expected value that can be configured by sales reps themselves, or by a manager by sharing the related profile.

Target Type - In Pipeliner you can use and track following five essential sales target types:

  • Unweighted Target
  • Weighted Target
  • Ranked Target
  • Balanced Target
  • Real Target

Target Calculation - This is a field according to which the target is calculated. You can use all calculable field types within Pipeliner as follows:

  • Currency
  • Currency with user-defined value
  • Dropdown
  • Radio Button
  • Integer Number (25)
  • Float Number (25.5)

Target Source - A target source enables you to select the opportunities that contribute to the target calculation:

  • My Opportunities - Only opportunities that you own.
  • All Opportunities - Opportunities that you own and all others' opportunities.

Toggle Target Visibility - Use this option when you do not want to see the target in the pipeline.
Target Period - Each opportunity in your system has its own "closing date". The target period defines which opportunities will be calculated into the target based on their closing dates. Here is the complete list of target periods you can use within Pipeliner CRM:

  • Today
  • Upcoming 30 days
  • Last 30 days
  • Current month
  • Current quarter
  • Current year
  • Current financial year
  • Next month
  • Next quarter
  • Next year
  • Next financial year
  • Last month
  • Last quarter
  • Last year
  • Last financial year
  • 1Q of current year
  • 2Q of current year
  • 3Q of current year
  • 4Q of current year
  • Custom target period

Tip: By default the financial (fiscal) year is set up from April 1 to March 31. If you have different financial year, you can modify it within the admin portal.

Target Comparison - Pipeliner enables you to compare your current target with the previous period. It means that you not only can track the current achievement of your sales reps, but also conduct a comparison to a previous period.

Configure a Sales Target

You can configure your sales target in "Sales Pipeline" under "Power Panel" settings.

  1. Run Pipeliner and click the "Pipeline" icon.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner of the application screen click "Power Panel" (double cogwheel icon).
  3. Within the "Power Panel" settings click on "Target Settings".
  4. Configure the "Target Settings" according to your preferences and Pipeliner will save your settings on-the-fly!

Compare Targets

Pipeliner allows you to compare your current Target with previously achieved Target in order to see, how performance of specific user or team has changed.

  1. In the upper right-hand corner of the Pipeline screen click on "Power Panel" (double cogwheel icon).
  2. Within the "Power Panel" settings click on "Target Settings".
  3. Scroll for Target Comparison drop-down option.
  4. Select Comparison period.
  5. Save the changes and close Power Panel.
  6. Pipeliner will automatically update the Target to display difference between periods compared.
  7. Mouse-over the Target for more details.

Target KPI Calculation

Pipeliner allows you to select various calculation options for different use case:
Weekly and Monthly Sales - You can easily track your sales based on Opportunity value.
Event Management - You can track number of Opportunities instead of their value, e.g. number of participants for the event.
Inventory Turnover - Track number or value of the Product(s) sold.

To select specific calculation for your use case please follow these steps:

  1. In the upper right-hand corner of the Pipeline screen click on "Power Panel" (double cogwheel icon).
  2. Within the "Power Panel" settings click on "Target".
  3. Click on Target Calculation.
  4. Select the field you want to use to calculate the Target, e.g. Opportunity Count.
  5. Save the changes.
